So the other day I’ve been going through Zara clothing rack and the quality of many items I’ve looked at seemed very subpar, especially for that price tag.
I don’t have a problem with affordable brands for low quality – they don’t charge that much for their items. It’s the brands that offer poor quality at high prices that really frustrate me as a consmer. That’s not to say that Zara and other brands in this market offer only poor quality items or that I’ve gotten only negative things to say about these companies – it’s their business strategy and their decision, same as it is my consumer decision to buy them or not. I’m writing this post because I’m convinced that consumers deserve the best quality for their money. Here’s a list of 7 common things that brands save money on and basically make customers pay more than the item needs to cost. Let’s start!
Greetings on this beautiful spring day! If you’ve read my post about 10 ways to look expensive on a budget, you know that I appreciate the power of accessories a lot. It refers to the accessories such as buckles, buttons, and eyelets as well as jewelry, of course!
When I saw this jacket, it seemed completely perfect for me in every sense, except for the detailing and accessories – buttons, buckle, and eyelets. When I got the jacket, I finally was able to take all the measurements and start looking for the right accessories. Who even thought of putting those silver metal accessories on a warm tone olive jacket? I just had to fix it! Come with me on a small crafting journey and see how changing accessories can jazz up the look of a simple jacket!
Autumn or Spring? Winter or Summer? In this post I won’t go into the seasonal color analysis, but will go back to basics – skin undertone and the overall coloring of the appearance. I’ve done my share of research on the seasonal color analysis and, unfortunately, I must admit that the information is abundant, but often doesn’t make any sense. In my opinion, one of the main issues are bad examples and bad definitions. Guessing celebrity coloring may be fun, but unless we’ve seen them in person without makeup, we can’t judge their real coloring at all – even the best cameras distort colors, and I won’t even start about Photoshop. Here I’ll share the things that always confused me when I tried to determine my skin undertone – what if they are holding you back as well? Let’s see!
One of the best compliments I’ve ever received referred to my sense of style. Being complimented on the sense of style in a way means that you’ve cracked a secret code to dressing yourself in a flattering way. It also means that you’ve discovered what works for you and doesn’t as well as learned how to mix and match different items and colors in an outfit. Well, I have grandiose plans for discussing colors here on my blog, but for now I’d like to make a quick list of items that work beautifully on literally anyone and take any outfit to another level of ‘stylish’ and ‘chic’. Let’s begin!
Good taste is ‘notoriously hard to define’ – even The New York Times can’t do it 😊 Now, I can definitely agree that ‘to each their own’ and everyone should ‘live and let live’. At the same time, good taste is an awesome ability and skill to have because its practical benefits in everyday life are hard to overestimate. Good taste can save you a lot of money, make you feel better about yourself, and bring a lot of value to the people around you. One more curious thing about good taste is that, however hard it is to define, you can see it. I’ll show you some examples in the post – you’ll be really surprised! Without further ado, let’s start!
I love order and organization as much as anyone else. And I love efficient shopping even more. The worst experience of getting ready is the feeling of looking into your closet with a desparate thought ‘nothing to wear’. Well, it’s not like when we feel that way we actually don’t have any physicaly clothes to put on – we simply don’t feel good about putting them on. Capsule wardrobe felt like it would be an awesome idea for me to address all these issues – but then it wasn’t. As always, I’ll tell you why in form of a coherent short list!
This topic is very close to my heart and I feel like some things have to be said. After years of research in the field of style, fashion history, body type systems, and face shape theories, body shape and face shape recommendations I have come to conclusions that will surprise you. If you’ve ever tried to determine your body and face shape, then this post is for you.
Have you ever felt like you were underdressed? I certainly did and I can tell for sure that it wasn’t the best or most empowering feeling in the world. Looking good has a great potential of making us feel good, so it matters a lot. I am all about smart consumption and budgeting, so I came up with these 10 easy ways to look much more expensive without spending a lot of – actually most of these tricks are free – money. Let’s start!
