10 Chic And Elegant Items That Take Any Outfit To Another Level w/Examples

One of the best compliments I’ve ever received referred to my sense of style. Being complimented on the sense of style in a way means that you’ve cracked a secret code to dressing yourself in a flattering way. It also means that you’ve discovered what works for you and doesn’t as well as learned how to mix and match different items and colors in an outfit. Well, I have grandiose plans for discussing colors here on my blog, but for now I’d like to make a quick list of items that work beautifully on literally anyone and take any outfit to another level of ‘stylish’ and ‘chic’. Let’s begin!

Motherless Brooklyn Movie Review & Thoughts (Spoiler-Free Review)

I am yet to see a movie where Edward Norton plays as if he’s not even playing. To be precise, I don’t think I’ll ever come across such a movie, because this phenomenal actor is, in my opinion, the best in business. I was stunned watching Norton’s debut performance in Primal Fear (1996) where he outplayed a dinosaur of the cinema Richard Geere. Then in Painted Veil (2006) he was once again impressive in a dramatic role. In The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) Norton demonstrated how much of a versatile actor he was. In Motherless Brooklyn he’s the script writer, producer, and director, so my expectations were very high. I can definitely say that I wasn’t disappointed, but would I 100% recommend it? *suspence intensifies*

5 Ways How I Deal With The 'Wardrobe Graveyard'

It happens to everyone – clothes just sitting in the wardrobe, sad, and almost never worn. It can be a couple of items or a whole bunch of them – it’s not the key issue about it. To me, it’s always been the feeling of frustration and guilt of witnessing all of my unsuccessful purchases not working for me, not giving me any value-per-wear, and being useless. The wardrobe graveyard is always a waste of money, time, and space. I’ve posted before about how capsule wardrobe didn’t work for me, so you can imagine that my wardrobe isn’t minimalistic at all – I like all kinds of items, which makes the issue even more frustrating because my items of clothing don’t go together very easily. Despite these challenges, I’ve come up with my own 5 strategies to keep the ‘wardrobe graveyard’ problem at bay. These strategies don’t involve dividing all the clothes into ‘yes’, ‘ no’, and ‘maybe’ piles or ‘if you haven’t worn an item over the past year, it has to go’, but practical long-term solutions. Let me share them with you, dear readers ❤️

Have You Found Your Perfect Red Lip? w/Examples

“Heels and red lipstick will put the fear of God into people” – Dita Von Teese

“There is a shade of red for every woman” – Audrey Hepburn

Red lipstick is very iconic. Somehow it’s become so iconic that now it’s borderline intimidating to many women though. Some think that their lips are too thin for red lipstick or that the classic Old Hollywood style red lips just live a life of their own, separate from their face. Today I’ve decided to debunk all of these myths and give you solid ideas on how you can find your own shade and style of red lips. Let’s start!

Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist Review & Ingredients

Time to review another aloe vera product, this time the Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist. Mists and sprays can be an excellent addition to the skincare routine and help maintain the skin moisturized and nourished throughout the day. This specific product has helped me a lot during the colder months because heating makes the air very dry and the skin requires more care apart from morning and evening skincare routine. My skin is combination and very sensitive, so I often use aloe vera-based products, such as Missha Aloe Gel I’ve posted about recently. I also will talk in-depth about all the ingredients of this product to make sure that it doesn’t contain anything that can potentially dry or irritate the skin. Let’s start the review!

Kibbe System for Different Ethnicities: Is There A Secret?

Short version: no, there’s no secret at all – Kibbe system can be used by anyone without any limitations or special rules.

You might think: how about the fact that in different regions people have different heights and specific features that are more prominent? Shouldn’t the region/country/descent be taken into account to make the Kibbe image IDs be distributed evenly in every region? Does applying the same system to everyone mean that some ethnicities have lower chance overall of being certain image IDs? I think these are the questions that rightfully occur because I presume that people may find it maybe a bit unfair that women in regions with shorter average heights have higher chance of being Yin-dominant image IDs since being tall means having a lot of Yang according to Kibbe’s system.

All these questions aren’t directly answered in the book Metamorphosis (1987) by David Kibbe and in this post I’ll give my own thoughts on them according to my understanding because this issue is directly related to the false idea of ‘beauty standards’ and discrimination. Let’s start!

5 Game-Changing Korean Skincare Strategies That Have Transformed My Skincare Routine

K-beauty has definitely boomed worldwide in recent years. A decade ago I couldn’t get any Korean skincare products in stores and even online it was pretty difficult, while today I can order even one item from a K-beauty store based in Seoul and it’ll be delivered to my doorstep within 2 weeks and get a bunch of free samples on top of that (see my Jolse K-beauty store unboxing & review #1, #2). Btw, my blog doesn’t contain any sponsored posts/affiliate links – all of my content is just me sharing my experience & thoughts.

When I first got curious about K-beauty, I’ve read a lot of different reviews, starting from ones that praised the ususual yet miracle-making ingredients like snail slime and ending with horror stories about how Korean skincare is truly only good long-term for Asian skin because different ethnicities have different skin processes (the proof that this is a goofy idea is what I see in the mirror every day).

Long story short, as K-beauty grew immensely popular and easily accesible, I’ve discovered a lot of different skincare strategies that have completely transformed my own skincare routine. I can’t say with 100% confidence that these strategies are inherently Korean, but K-beauty information universe is where I found them. Now without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Let’s get started!

MISSHA Premium Aloe Soothing Gel Review & Analysis of ALL Ingredients

***This gel has another variation – MISSHA Premium Cica Aloe Soothing Gel. The ingredients are same except for that Cica Aloe Gel contains Centella Asiatica Extract.

I love aloe vera – both the plant and as ingredient in skincare products. I’ve used the juice of aloe vera plant to cure everything from tiny wounds to skin rashes and chemical burns. In my experience, there’s just nothing better for my skin than the real aloe vera plant juice. However, I currently don’t have the plant at home and when I did have it, I needed a whole leaf for only few days of use on a small area. This means that I’d have to chop aloe vera plant regularly to use it as skincare product. This is why I turned to Korean aloe vera gels – they are convenient to use and often contain additional ingredients that are good for skin.
I’ve tried many of them, including Nature Republic, Holika Holika, and the SAEM, but this post is about the gel I’m currently using and have been using for the past 8 months – MISSHA Premium Aloe Soothing Gel. My skin type is sensitive and I’m very prone to different irritations & allergies. This gel is 95% aloe vera leaf juice, but what about the other 5%? In this post I’ve analyzed ALL ingredients of this gel, so you’ll know for sure whether it’s safe or not. Let’s start!
