Tip Tuesday #18: Makeup Multitasking – Multiple Uses for Beauty Products

Hello and welcome! This post is a very short one – it’s about how certain makeup items can be used for different purposes. I’ve traveled a few days ago and got this idea while packing since I had limited space for my beauty products. I think it’s awesome that I can get a lot of use out of a small amount of items – how do you think?

Mascara. Doubles as a liner – all you need is an angled brush. It’s best when the mascara is waterproof.

Lip balm. Can help remedy dry cuticles and be used for giving face products a glossier finish. It can be used to tone down the intensity of face products (blush or highlighter) if you don’t have a clean brush at hand. In the summer I sometimes use lipbalm to give a glossy finish to my eyelids.

Aloe vera gel. It’s got a lot (and I mean A LOT) uses, but it’s actually quite good at holding my eyebrows in place when I don’t have an eyebrow gel.

Eyebrow gel doubles as a subtle mascara for a no-makeup makeup look. Make sure it’s ophthalmologically tested first!

Bronzer works beautifully as an eyeshadow crease color. It also makes the overall look a more cohesive because cheek product and eyeshadow have the same elements.

Sparkly eyeshadow as a highlighter and highligher as an eyeshadow. Another easy trick to make the makeup look more put-together.

Eyebrow pencil for nose contouring. The only important thing is that the pencil has to be easy to blend.

Clear eyebrow gel is sometimes a great product to tame occasional flyaways if you are doing a sleek hairstyle. Clear eyebrow gel is a safe option and you need to apply the tiniest amount to keep the flyaways in place the whole day.

Eye liner as lip liner. Sometimes brands make the coolest shades in their eye liner ranges, but not lip liner, so this is a good way to get the color you need.

Bonus tip: skip using lip liners/lipsticks as eye liners. The quality regulations for eye makeup (mascara, liners, etc) are much more strict than for the lip makeup, meaning that the ingredients used for lip products can be potentially irritating for the eyes and gentle eye area. Lip products can also be contaminated with harmful bacteria due to the frequent product reapplication, which is why the idea of applying a liquid lipstick as an eyeliner is potentially dangerous. Besides, many lip products tend to leave a stain, which is an unpleasant issue to deal with. Stay safe!

Do you use certain beauty products for multiple purposes or do you use products as intended? I’d love to know and look forward to your comments πŸ’•

I hope you enjoyed this week’s #TipTuesday!

  1. This was a really helpful post. I just use the products how they’re meant to be used so I’m not really familiar with the multiple purposes of some products. Thanks for sharing your tips! ☺️
